Are you a broker? Do you hire subcontractors for commercial and residential moving?

No! We are not brokering our jobs. Instead, we use our own trained and insured team to handle your New York move to ensure you receive the highest quality of care and customer service!

How much does it cost to move?

We strive to provide affordable moving in New York City and wherever you relocate. The quoted price will vary depending on whether you need packing service, moving boxes, furniture disassembly, and the amount of items moving from your old location and distance to your new location. How far in advance should I book my move?

You will have the most options for matching your ideal moving date and delivery window if you book your move early. However, we also offer last-minute moving service, so it’s never too late to call for a free quote.

Can I change my moving date or reschedule?

You can reserve a move date and reschedule with 24 hours notice. We also have storage capabilities in the event that your move is interrupted or your destination is not yet ready.

Do you charge fixed rates or hourly rates?

We will quote you a flat rate based on the items you have and our team is trained to complete the job at the price quoted and within the guaranteed time frame. If the items list stays the same, your rate will not change. 

Should I tip movers?

Your professional movers have been paid for the day’s work and it is not required that you tip your movers. However, many customers are so impressed by the quality service and genuine care that is put into the packing, loading, and unloading of their fragile items that they choose to tip their movers for great service. We recommend you tip 15-20% of the total bill, but it is not required!

What is the best day of the week to move?

While weekends and the end of a calendar month are our busiest times, with your guaranteed moving day and delivery window, you can plan a move any day of the week or month with complete confidence in our trusted New York moving company.

Will inclement weather affect the moving process?

We are fully prepared for the challenges of weather, traffic, and local loading and unloading regulations, so bad weather will not prevent your move from happening on time and on budget.

What is a full-service move?

With a full-service move, our team will professionally pack your precious belongings at the old place and provide cardboard boxes, moving blankets, bubble and shrink wrap, and bring all necessary equipment including furniture dollies and ramps. Your belongings will be safely transported and unpacked at your destination, and all packing materials removed.

Are there any other fees (e.g., flight of stairs fees)?

We will ask you about flights of stairs, elevators, and other details when we provide your quote. In the unlikely event that unexpected services might require an extra fee on moving day, you will always be informed and any additional charges explained fully.

Do you install items when moving?

With our white glove moving service, we can handle every aspect of your move from start to finish. You can choose to have us unmount a television, uninstall an air conditioner, or take expensive items apart to prevent damage during transport and reassemble them upon arrival. A relocation consultant will work with you to schedule professional piano movers and transport artwork, sculptures, and other challenging pieces safely. We even offer cleaning services.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept credit cards, debit cards, and cash payments. Your card will be charged a deposit on the booking day, and the rest of the cost will be charged one day before the moving date. Your moving team will have a complete set of moving documents for you to review.

What kind of moving truck will arrive?

Samba Moving has our own fleet of large trucks, trailers, and vans to handle long-distance or local moves of any size. Typically a box truck with our logo will arrive, although we might send a rented truck on rare occasions or for long-distance moves.
